Formerly a top fashion model, almost 5'10'' in height, Carey was an a fan favorite of high-end American fashion designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father, a distinguished scientist who received the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists' 1979 Scientist of Year award, is a highly respected scientist. Carey went to all over the world because of her father's work. Modeling began part time during her time attending university at the University of Colorado and caught the attention of an agent for the Ford model Agency in New York. The model briefly studied and lived in Paris prior to returning back to New York. Her modeling and academic career rocketed and she was featured on Glamour's, Vogue's as well as many other covers of magazines. While she was modeling, she was also a full-time student obtaining a major of literature from New York University. Then she became interested in acting and started taking classes with the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. In 1986 she made her first appearance as an actor with a small role on the show "Club Paradise" in the film "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys in wind surfing, skiing, rock climbing and white water river rafting.
