In 2007, she appeared in the Romanian film 4 luni 3 saptamani si 2 days (4 Months 3 Weeks and 2 days) by Cristian Mungiu. The film won the Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and two additional awards (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System and the FIPRESCI prize). Also, she starred in the film of Francis Ford Coppola Youth Without Youth. She appeared as Yasim Awar in the BBC's 5 episode The Last Enemy miniseries. Marinca performed as Yasim in Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven, and also Boogie, the Romanian film Boogie. In the movie Fury (2014) the actress appeared as Irma, a German woman who is Emma's aunt.
